Joshua and Jen's Wedding This mini site is intended to be a more casual way for us to tell you about the wedding and answer any questions you may have. This wedding is not a traditional wedding. We have selected a fun alternative that is very much in our style. Essentially we are having a big dance party and everyone is invited. If we missed anything please email us. Date and Place We will be getting married on September 9th, 2006 at The Music Hall. The ceremony and reception will both be at The Music Hall and start at 7 pm. Attire Come as you like. We are encouraging black tie as it sounds fun, and how often do you really get to dress black tie? Most importantly, however, is that people wear what is comfortable to them. If you want dress up like a ninja instead, go for it. There will be dancing, so keep that in mind. Music and Dancing Jumbo Circus Peanuts will be our band for the night. They dress and act crazy, and also play music we all know, and can dance to. Prepare to have a lot of fun. Don't forget to wear your dancing shoes! Food and Drink This will not be a wedding where we all sit at tables waiting for our turn to be served, talking to people we don't really know, just waiting for the dancing and fun to start. There will be no tables. In fact there will be NO dinner served. Instead, we suggest you eat at any of the fine restaurants in Portsmouth before hand. We will be serving dessert. If you want some suggestions of places to eat, ask us. There are at least 30+ restaurants within a 4 block radius of the wedding from which to choose from. We recommend making reservations in advance. As for drinks... we know our family and friends. You all drink like fish. We are poor and are thus are having a cash bar. Kids Bring em along. This is a celebration and we would love everyone to come. Remember that it is a late wedding though, and they may tire out before you do. Gifts We are very blessed and really don't need anything. Your presence at our wedding is all that we ask. For those who won't take no for an answer, we do have a registry. ;-) Directions Park anywhere in downtown Portsmouth and walk over. You don't have to feed the meters after 7pm. The parking garage is about 2 blocks away and pretty inexpensive (75 cents an hour).
If you plan on flying, the two nearest airports are Boston or Manchester, NH. Manchester is smaller and sometimes easier to get around in, but Boston has a bus that runs every hour to and from Portsmouth. Both are about 1 hour away. Hotels Everything in downtown Portsmouth is walkable. You can easily get to The Music Hall, our house, and anything else by foot if you are staying downtown. The hotels outside of downtown are less expensive, but be prepared to use a taxi. Here is a handy list of hotels. Some people have already booked at The Sise Inn, which is a large bed-and-breakfast. |
