Favorite CFBuilder Feature of the Week

Just wanted to mention my favorite CFBuilder feature this week. I don't see this one mentioned very often.

File Compare

Did you know that you can compare similar files with CFBuilder? Select two files, right click and select Compare With > Each Other. This proved handy this week when I found out a client was changing a file that I had worked on. They both had needed changes and were out of sync. I was quickly able to find the small differences.

Also built in is Compare With > Local History. Very basic versioning, but still handy. I know I have come into work after a 4 day weekend wondering "now where did I leave off last week..."

What are your favorite features which you rarely read others write about?

Reinhard Jung's Gravatar cfBuilder have great Tools, but you can not rapid develope with ColdFusion :-( What it need ia a shortCut/Key (like F5) to refresh the build-in-browserview. It is inaceptable that you have to use you mouse to click on a refreshbutton :-((( cfEclipse have this "feature"!!!

Marc Esher's Gravatar Josh,
The "Now where did I leave off?" is Mylyn's bread-n-butter. I presented a cfmeetup about this a while back, and if you didn't see it, I invite you to watch: http://experts.na3.acrobat.com/p29051465/

I even use mylyn for my own local play-around development, even if I'm not using an issue tracker, precisely because it makes it so easy to get back "into context".

mike henke's Gravatar @Reinhard Jung - are you talking about viewing your code in a browser? I would suggest alt-tab to the browser, then f5 see the change, and then alt-tab back to the editor. Honestly, I have always felt browsing web pages through eclipse kinda klunky.

Joshua's Gravatar Ashamed to admit I hadn't seen it until just now. I am enjoying the drinking game though ;-)
