RPM Challenge 09 - Sign Up Today
RPM Challenge is an amazing music event that happens every February. It is a challenge for musicians of all talents to conceive, write, record and submit their album all in the month of February (28 days!). For most it is a daunting task, and full of rewards. Not money rewards, but personal growth, community building, and artistic expression. You see this challenge is all about the music and the musician. There is no winner, there are no judges. Not even an entry fee.
Last year 8500+ original tracks of music were recorded. There were simultaneous listening parties in 7 different cities (plus secondlife). So much music was produced that it wasn't possible to listen to just one track from each album of just regional participants in many of the cities.
Musicians from every single continent have participated, and of all skill levels. Even some notable press have gotten into the groove with Bob Boilen, director of NPR's All Things Considered and host of the online music show All Songs Considered submitting work and involving the show in post RPM features of many of the participants.
So sign up today and pass the word along to anyone you know who has been itching to get creative. It doesn't have to be a your best work, nothing you need to submit to a recording studio. Rather this is an artistic personal exercise and a good excuse for musicians everywhere to just get it done.
There is some cool tech stuff going on too. Each of the tracks that an artist submits for publication gets posted into an online jukebox. Its built in Flex and is a great tool to sample all of the great music out there.
On a side note, RPM is looking for volunteers. Specifically people with Joomla experience.
