Nicknames.  Every where I turn there is someone named trnky2fun or something like that.  Every social site I belong to I get invited to be a friend by someone with NO profile, or with a description of 'what do you want to know'.    Their name?  Nothing descriptive. How can I say yes to that?

I have 2 people in my gmail talk alone who I have NO idea who they actually are.  I am sure I may have known when I approved 7 months ago, but no memory of it now.

Many blogs don't have an about page.  Very difficult to know who the author is.  Not always a problem, but when they want to do a link exchange or such I like to know who I am dealing with.

So there you have it, my rant for the day.  I know you all like to be invisible and not be tracked to your secret identity, but give us peeps a little help.

For the gmail ones, I assume when you get those contacts.. you can edit them to their real names.

I do that, but I've only used gtalk within gmail - so it's just my contacts.

silly people and their nicknames.

I agree completely, but feel compelled to defend cryptic nicknames in one, and only one, scenario: sometimes the service is just so damn popular that you have to choice but to pick something cryptic and unintelligible. That's the only justification I can think of.

@Rob wow, did you redesign your blog? I really like it.

Well, yeah. About 4 months ago (or something like that) :-). I haven't made any changes in a long time because I'm waiting for the new version of Chyrp. That and a general lack of motivation for personal projects. Nonetheless, glad you like it. Thanks.
