RPM's Cool Jukebox Flex App

This morning I am playing/listening too a Flex powered jukebox of 16,000+ tracks of original music.   A local group here recnetly put out a challenge for musicians to write and record an entire album in the month of February.  700+ groups from around the world signed up and completed that challenge.  The listening party was last Friday and the new jukebox to listen to all of that music is now up and available.

The jukebox offers quite a bit of flexibility.  Musicians can log into their account to update their track info, upload cover art, etc.  We can create your accounts and you can build play lists, mark favorite music etc.  I especially like the equalizer built into the header.  The music controls are docked at the bottom, but drag it around to have it float and give you more artist information.  The main screen shows 100 random tracks, but you can click on library to search through the many thousands currently available.

A couple fun things to note:

1) It was all build by volunteers. The jukebox itself was largely a creation of Ken Dunnington, who really should start a blog...   In fact the whole event was largely done by volunteers and dedicated staff of The Wire (and friends).

2) The listening party was great.  I helped monitor one of the venues (there were 4 simultaneous venues in Portsmouth, NH alone).  One track from each local musician played.  After each track played the artists often got up and passed around free CD's of their music to their fellow musicians in the bar.  How cool is that?

3) Some of the musicians will be featured on NPR's Second Stage next month.

4) Last years video is posted on Mogulus.  This years video is great and will be posted up there in a week or so I am told.

DIGITALUnderworld's Gravatar Can we get the source code to the jukebox? I think it would be great to play with.

joshua's Gravatar I sent your request along to the developer. He may be interested in providing open source, but probably not just yet as he has plans for more development first.
