Superbowl Thoughts

I don't watch football.  I am not really a big fan, though I do enjoy having friends over for the Superbowl.  Its a good excuse to get together, talk about the commercials and such.  Since I live in New Hampshire, I pretty much need to support the local team.  It would have been great to have them finish the year undefeated.  So I was of course disappointed in the game last night.  I have to say though, that the Giants deserved their win.  The Pats just couldn't protect Brady.  Defense couldn't sack Manning.

What I am REALLY disappointed in though, is the crappy round of commercials.  My friends and I rated each commercial with a 1-5 rating.  Hoping in the end to report on the best commercials and worst.  However there were soooo many commercials and they were really sub par. 

There were a couple we enjoyed enough to laugh out loud, but those really were not all that great.  We were just struggling to find anything to laugh and be happy about due to the stress of the game.  eTrade was ok, the second commercial with the baby talking about the clown was fun.  As was the Bridgestone commercial with screaming animals and Alice Cooper.  Oh, and the mouse jumping out of the wall for the Doritos.  That was it.  Sum total.  And even those were only partly funny.  The lists out now of the best commercials include the Godfather spoof, which I thought was really horribly done.  All of us did. One commercial really stood out to me though.  The commercial for Gaterade that had a dog drinking out of a big bowl of water.  Lots of slobber and splash.  At the end it shows bottles of Gaterade drink.  What was the point of that.  It was literally saying 'drink water instead of Gaterade'.
