Voting for Vice President?

I voted today ( I live in NH ) and was surprised to see a column for Vice President on the ballot.  Yes, VP.  On the Democrat ballot were two people (no big names) and the republican ballot has one name (a local state senator).

So what happens to the person who wins the VP primary race?  Nothing

It costs $1000 to put your name on the ballot.  For that price I am surprised more people don't do it.  Hell I think it would be pretty fun.

Do other states still have this on the ballot?

In Barnstead there was only one candidate for on the democrat ticket. No republicans I wonder if the $1000 only gets you a limited number of precincts...
