Blog Design Update

Since so many others had updated their blog for the new year I figured I would get in on the act.

I kept blogcfc and really just modified the CSS and a bit of the layout.  I also made room for a 'featured posts' section, which is really just 3 random posts.  Blogcfc caches pages, so they are random to when it caches, but they show different 3 posts per page.  I figure this will be good for SEO an also for people finding old posts of mine.

I am not 100% on the layout quite yet.  Or the featured posts.  I could probably make another column up here for most popular or something.

At any rate, if you see anything odd let me know.  Fonts ok?  Colors clear?  Any odd lines or overlapping layers?  I don't have a mac to test anything with at the moment, though it looks ok in IE and FF on my Vista box.

I find the article copy hard to read. Having it so small and bold makes it difficult to read. I suggest making it a tad bigger, instead of making me strain my eyes or change the default font size in my browser. Other than that, I think everything else looks great.

Ah ha! I had a strong tag in one of my text blogs that wasn't closed. why was I using strong tag in the first place? At any rate it is removed and much better. thanks Jon

I had the font type at "trebuchet ms" to be a bit different, but I think that really just made it harder to read. I left it like that for everything but the center column which is now verdana. I think that should help the readability as well.

That is sooo much easier to read. My wife is a print designer and would prefer font so small it makes your eyes ache. But as you know, interaction design is a different beast and requires you to not punish your users for the sake of design ;-) With that being said, you could bring down the font size a little more if you wanted (if you thought it looked better that way), but it reads very well the way you have it now.

I dig the update, nice and clean look. I'm reserving judgment on the Featured Posts section way up at the top because I can't decide if I like it or not. I was actually looking for it and didn't see it at first, so I'm not sure what that says.
