Spiffy New Design for Blog

I was so tired of my lame looking blog I decided to do something about it. I found an open source design by NodeThirtyThree to use. The original design was only two column. So I made it wider and added another narrow column.

I use BlogCFC (thanks Ray) as my blog engine and so I opted to upgrade to the latest version of BlogCFC at the same time. Upgrading was simple enough, as was integrating my new design.

Please let me know if you see anything off. I have tested in IE7 and FF but I don't have IE6 here to test with.

Of course when I decided to do all of this I also decided to upgrade my server to BlueDragon 7. I did have a few programming quirks to fix, but mostly things that BD 6 did that it shouldn't have done and were fixed in 7.

All in all it has been a good 24 hours!

Joshua's Gravatar Thanks! I am working on social blogging things like mybloglog and blogcatalog now. Learning what I can and trying to see if they will add value to my blog. Have you used them? You can see an example to the right below the google ads.

I have an idea or two for CFBloggy. Probably in another month or two though.

John Ramon's Gravatar Well if you're talking about making money let me know, I've only made 80 in 6 months with Google Ads, as for CFBloggy I'm going to focus on getting it ready, I promise...hehe

SEO Gangsta's Gravatar Yo, John Ramon - you've only made $80 on your blog in 6 months? Let's assume (conservatively, I'm sure) that you have spent 2 hours per week with your blog - not too bad, right?

You've spent 52 hours total on your blog - doesn't seem like much - for an effective wage of... wait for this... $1.54/hour - you ballin'!

Seriously, though, I have a job where you could make AT LEAST twice that - hit me up, bro!

Joshua Cyr's Gravatar To be fair I don't think John has tried to make money with his blog other than tossing adsense up there. And there isn't anything wrong with that, most people don't expect to make money on their blog, it is there for other reasons. While I make money on my web properties my blog is probably the least monied of them. I don't get enough traffic that pays I suppose. That and I haven't really tried. In fact I didn't have any means of making money on my blog until a couple months ago, and the redesign yesterday was a move to making my blog better in many ways hopefully including revenue.

John Ramon's Gravatar You hit it on the head josh, I am in fact not trying to earn a living with my blog but it's a tool for me to learn new ideas and technics, nut if I could earn a few bucks well I don't see anything wrong with that.

SEO Gangsta send me an email with more info =)
