Spam Stock on Salon
I was interviewed by Alex Koppelman from Salon.com last week. The article was just posted today. He was interested in my spamstocktracker.com web site and its results. I didn't get a lot of quotes in the article, but I am happy non the less. It is an interesting read.
Interesting observations on the Spam stocks... They pretty much all went DOWN. Sooo... why not short those securities??? An interesting experiment would be to see if you shorted every spam stock, how much would you make... Try shorting 1,000 shares for one month for each and see what happens... I bet you make a ton!
If you could short, yes. But nobody is likely to lend you the shares to short, and not likely any broker would let you anyway. At least that is what I am lead to believe. I haven't actually tried.
GGTS.PK, your latest SPAM Stock has a short interest of 88,566 shares (as of January '07)... These people must have some way of doing it... Its only 2.38% of the 3,721,497 shares outstanding, but still...
Thats interesting. I wish I had more experience in that realm, but alas no. Most of the articles that mention my blog also mention shorting, and the improbability of doing so. Mostly they say that brokers wont. But I wonder if that is just a US imposed thing?
