Canceling Text Link Ads

Do to my ongoing concern with Text Link Ads hurting my google rankings I removed TLA from my sites.  I then sent an email to TLA to let them know and to request partial payment for services rendered this month up to the date I removed them.  Seems only fair.

It turns out that you don't get paid unless you display the link ads for a full 30 days of that month.  In other words if you cancel TLA just before the end of the month you will NOT get paid for that month.  Damn it!

Lesson for everyone: Cancel on the first of the month if possible.

I took a look at the agreement on TLA to see where in small print that was written.

Section 5: Compensation and Payment

...Publisher must allow each advertisement purchased on their respective website to remain active for a full 30 day term to qualify for payout. Company reserves the right to withhold payment or charge back Customer's account due to any of the foregoing or any breach of this Agreement by Customer.

In other news I am now selling direct ads on my blog and other sites.   Contact me if your interested.

I don't have much of an issue ,having a personal blog which uses tla inline. i don't have the capability of making much money, I make enough to pay for a couple years worth of hosting and buy a few CD's. I was thinking of canceling it anyway but it's good to know about the end of the month thing.

My guess is that they're being hit pretty hard -- at least by people like us who keep up with the industry. I canceled my account too, but I didn't even bother to ask for partial payment. I just wanted out!
