The iPhone looks cool. It would be fun to play with. Alas it does nothing new (feature wise) that anyone would care about.

Aside from the lack of flexibility, expense and fact I have to change carriers here is another reason I wont get an iPhone.

The iPhone will only work on Cingular's wireless network. Cingular doesn't offer service in a number of areas including large portions of some states and all of Vermont. It is supported (mostly) in Seacoast NH.

Just where is service spotty or not existant?

Alaska, Colorado, the Dakotas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, upstate New York, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming, among other places.
