network solutions DNS down

Today the network solutions DNS severs went down then up, then down, and now back up again.  I use netsol to manage dns for many of my domain names.  So, if there dns server goes down, as well as all there backup servers, nobody can get to my sites.

What does it say when THE domain name company can't do DNS backup right?

I called in to ask what was going on.  At first the tech support person said a server was down, but it should be back up in 24 hours.  I said "but there are backup servers for DNS.  And some of my domains are using different DNS servers than others.  They are all down?" to which he replied that they were upgrading the systems, and apparently it didn't go well.

So, what do we do when network solutions effectively bring our web sites down?  Not much we can except stop using them for DNS service.  Here and I thought that was a sure bet for uptime...
