Why DRM is Flawed
Technology is a tool. It is as useful/useless as the implementers make it. All too often there is a reasonable idea that gets warped into political and commercial wickedness, at the expense of the consumer / average person.
This is the case of DRM as found by Big Picture blog. Not only does the 'protection' of the CD music end up as a major hassle, it prevents him from many legal uses. Finally he finds it isn't really about protecting the music at all, but as a jab to Apple from Sony regarding music standards, itunes and more.
Interestingly, all of this pain is really only felt by those on a pc. None of it happens on a mac. Not because mac is superior (in this case) but rather that they didn't bother writing the protection software for OSX.
